Please Like Me is an Australian television dramedy airing on ABC AU since 2013 and currently in its fourth series. It has received a shorter episode order than previous ten-episode installments, and is comprised of six half-hour episodes that premiered on November 9, 2016. It is created and written by Josh Thomas with Liz Doran and Thomas Ward and hails from Josh and John Productions and Pigeon Fancier Productions.
After Josh (Josh Thomas) breaks up with his girlfriend Claire (Caitlin Stasey), he unexpectedly comes to the realization that he is homosexual. His best mate Tom and his now ex-girlfriend attempt to support him through the process of coming to terms with his orientation. His depressed mother Rose (Debra Lawrance) and father Alan (David Roberts) also have to deal with accepting the change in their son.
Popularity and renewal potential
The show has garnered critical acclaim and won a number of awards, including Australian Writers Guild Awards and Australian Directors Guild Awards. It has a strong 8.3/10 IMDb score, which indicates a positive reception, and has been indulged with excellent critical and viewer reviews. Even though the main premise of the story is not a universally relatable one, the characters are well-rounded and evoke sympathy. Please Like Me airs with approximately over 100,000 viewers per episode, which is not an amazing number, but apparently enough to keep it going.
