Show format and production info

I`m a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here! is a British reality series, and the flagship show in a hugely popular international franchise. It is one of the veterans of the genre, having been on the air since 2002 and already into its sixteenth season, which aired on ITV on November 13, 2016. The program is currently produced by ITV Studios and executive produced by Richard Cowles, Chris Brogden and Becca Walker. The show has been presented by Ant & Dec since the day it first aired, and still is as of now.

The show features twelve celebrities living together at a jungle-set camp located in Australia. The conditions are austere, and the competition proceeds in an elimination format, in order for only one winner to remain on top of the game and be crowned king or queen of the jungle. Besides, the winner gets the right to pick a charity to which ITV should make a donation. While at the camp, the participants have to undertake various challenges that remain mostly the same series to series.

Immense popularity and renewal through 2019

The show is renewed through at least 2019, which will take it up to 19 series. It has been adapted in numerous countries around the globe, but is currently on the air only in Great Britain, Germany and Australia. In the UK I`m a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here! remains a top ratings performer for ITV. The current series premiered with just over 9 million viewers, which increased to a whopping 12.66 million including HD and +1 viewers. The immense popularity of the reality program has a flip side – there`s lots of criticism and controversy surrounding it, mostly, as is often the case with reality shows, regarding the staged storylines, general pointlessness and the lack of truly interesting characters on the show. In any case, the viewers have made their choice, as is apparent from the ratings, and the show`s popularity is what has driven it forward for years.
