Show information and storyline
Pitch Slapped is a new American musical competition reality series. The series premiered on Lifetime on January 5, 2016. It is produced by All2Media America, Studio Lambert Associates and InsomniaTV. Executive producers for the programs are Stephen Lambert. Greg Goldman, Glenn Schubert, Eli Lehrer, Mary Donahue and Coleen Conway Grogan. The freshman season of the docu-series contains 8 one-hour episodes.
The viewer interest in a cappella singing was sparked by the hit Pitch Perfect movies, the third one of which is coming out in 2018. For now this interest has to be kept alive – and it is, with several a cappella series on cable. This is one with two competing high school a cappella teams from New Jersey training with their celebrity coaches and participating in weekly clashes and preparing for a final championship. Deke Sharon (Pitch Perfect) coaches Stay Tuned from Cherry Hill High School, while Diana Preisler (Blue Jupiter) works with The Voices from Allendale HIgh School.
Current season and renewal prospects
The docu-series premiered to 717 000 viewers, a 0.28 rating in the P18-49 demographic, and a 0.47 rating in F12-34, the closest demo to the show`s target audience, which obviously is a teenage one. The ratings aren`t amazing, but they might get better as the audience warms up to the participants over the course of the series. The competitive high school a cappella world is an intense one, and soon enough the audience is set to find out which team remains in the TV spotlight with the champion title.
