About the show

Stella is a British flagship comedy / drama television series broadcast on Sky1 since January 6, 2012. It`s created by Ruth Jones and David Peet, produced by Tidy Productions and executive produced by Barry Lyncj, Lucy Lumsden, Ruth Jones and Jon Montague. The current fifth series aired on January 12, 2016.

The series is set in a South Wales village and focuses on a 40-something single mom of three, Stella (Ruth Jones) who does the locals` washing and ironing for a living. She is incredibly upbeat, and her lack of money does not prevent her from having fun with her outlandish friends and family members. Her shortage of luck with men in her life keeps another narrative strand alive, as the boyfriend characters float in and out.

Critical acclaim and possible renewal

This universally acclaimed comedy series is a safe haven for comforting, down-to-earth television viewing. It may even restore your faith in humanity, if you`re in need of that by enveloping you in that community feeling long-lost in big cities. Fantastic casting, consistently well-developed charming characters with a Welsh flare, and brilliant comedic writing are among the most often cited reasons for viewers to keep watching the series. The fifth series` premiere episode drew 0.85 million viewers to their screens, which is a significant increase over some of the previous series` opening episodes. It seems like the potential in Ruth Jones` writing and acting is far from being exhausted, and a renewal is almost surely in the cards.
