This article has the most up-to-date info on the status of Powers Season 3 as we continuously monitor the news to keep you in the know. Unfortunately, PlayStation Network has officially canceled the series. There will be no Season 3.
Summary and plot
Developed by Brian Michael Bendis and Charlie Huston, Powers is an American online police procedural drama that is based on the Marvel comic book series of the same name. A PlayStation Network original, Powers season 1 premiered on March 10, 2015 to mixed reviews. The second season debuted on May 31, 2016, when three of the episodes were made available, and the subsequent episodes are now being released on a weekly basis. The new season is set to contain 10 episodes and is available free to members of the Playstation Plus program.
Christian Walker, formerly known as Diamond, is a superhero turned police detective. Some time ago he had the ability to fly, which was taken from him by his mentor Wolfe. Instead of becoming bitter against his fate, Christian began working for the homicide division called Powers, where, together with his partner Deena Pilgrim, he investigates crimes committed by super humans, using his knowledge on the matter. The second chapter features detectives Walker and Pilgrim investigating the violent death of Retro Girl.
Ratings, reviews and renewal expectations
There are plenty of villains and their righteous hunters, some of whom have nothing but good intentions at heart, while others wouldn’t want anything more than seeing all Powers disappear. Although the television series hasn’t been met the same level of success as the comic book, Powers has received some positive critic reviews and scores 53% on Rotten Tomatoes, 6.9 out of 10 on IMDb and 51 on Metacritic. Brian Michael Bendis, the series` executive producer, promised to impress the audience with upgraded visual effects, stunts and cinematography in the current second season, so tune in and enjoy. We will inform you of further news of the series` future.
UPDATED August 4, 2016: As difficult as it may be for the fans to accept, the comic-based Powers series was canceled by The PlayStation Network. At least for now there will not be a third season of the criminal Marvel drama, but series co-creator Brian Michael Bendis has hinted that the show will be offered to other networks, so there’s hope for its revival. Meanwhile, Marvel has assured that the comic books will continue to be published, so fans will not have to completely part with their favorites.
