Basic info and plot

Hit the Floor (originally known as Bounce) is a US scripted drama television series airing on VH1 since May 27, 2013. It is currently in its 3rd season, which premiered on January 18, 2016. The series is created by James LaRosa, produced by The Film Syndicate and In Cahoots Media, and executive produced by Bryan Johnson, James LaRosa, Jill Holmes, Maggie Malina and Susan Levinson.

Ahsha Hayes (Taylour Paige) joins Los Angeles Devil Girls, an NBA cheerleading team, and almost immediately discovers that the life of a Devil Girl is very different from what she had imagined. There`s danger, temptation, forbidden romance, and a number of other unpleasant issues which she has to face and find a way to deal with if she wants to remain on the team. Ahsha`s single mother Sloane (Kimberly Hayes) is herself an ex-Devil Girl, and her father, Pete Davenport (Dean Cain), is an ex-all star Devils player, so the situation is complicated further by the family relationships.

Current season, ratings and renewal chances

The series has a 6.9/10 rating on IMDb based on 1381 reviews, and a “generally favorable” 75% score on Rotten Tomatoes. The reviews mention the entertaining quality of the show, which is not spoiled by the apparent lack of intensity or depth. The critics dislike the cliché plot, undeveloped characters and uninspired dialogue. There are, however, many more fans than critics, as the series is a ratings success for VH1, with the second season premiere ranking #1 in the women 18-34 demo, and scored 3.5 million total viewers. The series has an excellent chance for renewal, and fans should stay tuned for relevant announcements.

Season 3 finale recap

The tenth and final episode titled “Possession” of the current third installment of the VH1 fan favorite romantic drama show Hit the Floor was broadcast in the US on Monday, March 28, 2016. Although the series has seen a drop in the ratings during a third season (a 1.3 million average viewership as compared to 2.2 last year), it still boasts high approval scores on IMDb and Rotten Tomatoes and has acquired a solid fan following. The finale was dramatic and explosive, as expected, and it looks like two couples’ relationships are in jeopardy – Derek and Ahsha, and Jelena and Terrence might be facing some serious troubles when the show returns. On a more satisfying note, just when everyone got tired of Jelena’s constant scheming, we see her lying on the floor after the sound of a gunshot. Whether she survives or not, we can only find out if the network renews the show, but the decision hasn’t been made yet.
