Show info and concept

The new television reality series about what television is like around the globe, Planet Primetime premiered on the Travel Channel on January 19, 2016. It is produced by Zodiak USA and executive produced by Esther Reyes, Terrence Michael, Tony Yates, Cem Yeter, Joel Karlsberg, Glenn Stickley and Dave Shikiar. Karla Cavalli will host the first season, which is comprised of fourteen half-hour episodes.

The show attempts to take a look at different cultures around the world through the peephole of its favorite television programs. Sometimes the energetic host takes a hands-on approach and participates in the programs. The sociological value of the series is pretty low, as it makes some stereotypical and oversimplified conclusions about whole nations based on what might be the wackiest and ridiculous examples of television. However, the series is feisty and fun, and can provide light and enjoyable entertainment.

Current season and prospects of renewal

The episodes will cover Japan, Mexico, Russia, Brazil, Colombia and India, among other places. It is still unclear at this point in the series` run whether it will be picked up for renewal. It seems, however, that it should be able to survive on the wave of the exotic wackiness uncovered by the enthusiastic host and an unusual albeit somewhat shallow angle taken. Stay tuned for further developments and find out whether Planet Primetime is renewed or canceled.
