Series information and content

Dark Net is a new American documentary television series that premiered on January 21, 2016 on Showtime. The series`s first season contains eight half-hour episodes and is produced by Vocaltv and Part2 Productions, created by Matt Kochavi and narrated by Lauren Terp. The series explores cutting edge contemporary issues related to the dark web, such as bio-hacking, digital warfare, online cult organization, pornography, sex trade, cyber-kidnapping. An attempt to analyze the impact of the dark side of technology on all aspects of life in the modern world is a very important and timely one, as changes are occurring at lightning speed all around us, and one can barely keep track of a very small part of them.

Reviews and chances of renewal

Dark Net received mixed to positive reviews from the critics, many of whom find it compelling and hugely relevant. Still others find that Dark Net merely acknowledges the specified issues, without being particularly revealing beyond what is generally known about the dangers of the web. The series currently holds a 69/100 rating on Metacritic. Vocaltv is using its exclusive proprietary deep web technology that allows to reveal surprising trends and emerging data and to nveil a new point of view on these dangerous issues. There is certainly enough subject matter to last for more seasons to come, but whether or not a new season is in the cards for Dark Net depends on whether or not the ratings will warrant a renewal.
