Series` background and info
Better Call Saul is a black comedy and criminal drama airing on AMC in the United States since 2015. The 10-episode second season premiered on February 15, 2016. The series is created by Vince Gilligan and Peter Gould and is produced by HIgh Bridge Productions, Crystal Diner Productions, Gran Via Productions and Sony Pictures Television. It is a spinoff from Breaking Bad that serves as a prequel to the series.
The series is set in 2002 and portrays James Morgan “Jimmy” McGill, also known by his trade name Saul Goodman (Bob Odenkirk), a small-time scam artist who turns into a small-time Albuquerque criminal lawyer, originally featured in Breaking Bad.

Like its original predecessor, Breaking Bad, Better Call Saul has received universal critical acclaim, with many significant awards and nominations, including Emmy and Writers` Guild of America. At the time of its broadcast the original series premiere set the impressive record for the highest-rated scripted series premiere on basic cable ever with 6.88 million viewers. The series garnered a very warm critical and viewer reception and high scores on review aggregator websites. It is a truly multidimensional show, with a good dose of dark quirky humor inserted into the criminal plots and strong, well-written characters. The first season has averaged 3.51 million total viewers per episode, the second has premiered to an audience of 2.57 million viewers. UPDATED March 16, 2016: AMC clearly has confidence in its Breaking Bad prequel. The network has just officially renewed its Golden Globe-nominated crime drama television series Better Call Saul for a third season. Currently airing its second installment, the critically acclaimed show is delivering an average viewership of 2.24 million viewers per episode. This is actually a significant 30% decline when compared to the debut chapter, but the network has still decided to give the series another chance. The early renewal will also give the creative team some much needed extra time to work on new storylines and plot twists. No release date has been set yet for a 10-episode third installment, so stay tuned.
