Series information, plot and cast

The Tunnel is a criminal drama television series co-produced by the UK and France. It originally premiered in 2013. The concept of the series is adapted from the hit Danish/Swedish crime drama The Bridge. Kudos Film and Television on the British side, and Shine France on the French side are behind the production of The Tunnel. The second series of The Tunnel was originally set to air on April 5, 2016, but the premiere date was pushed back a week in the wake of the tragic Brussels events. It has debuted on April 12, 2016 at 9pm on Sky Atlantic.

Set mostly in Calais and Folkestone – the towns on the two sides of the Channel Tunnel, the series follows an investigation of mysterious murders, after a serial killer leaves halves of two different bodies at the midpoint between the United Kingdom and France in the Channel Tunnel. Karl Roebuck (Stephen Dillane) and Elise Wasserman (Clémence Poésy) are the detectives searching for the criminal who turns out to be on a moral crusade. The second series, entitled The Tunnel: Sabotage, comprises 8 episodes and focuses on a storyline that does not reprise that of The Bridge, featuring an airliner crashing into the Channel.
