Series info and storyline
A brand new Canadian teen drama series, Backstage has been broadcast in the United States on Disney Channel since March 25, 2016 and in Canada on Family Channel since March 18, 2016. Jennifer Pertsch and Lara Azzopardi have created the series, and Fresh TV is behind the production.
The series portrays outstandingly talented students at a prestigious performance arts high school as they hone their skills in their respective fields and deal with issues related to competition among themselves, tough-minded teachers, stardom perspectives and general teenage issues of growing up and coming of age. The cast includes Devyn Nekoda, Alyssa Trask, Josh Bogart, Aviva Mongillo, Matthew Isen, Julia Tomasone, Adrianna Di Lielo and others. The series explores many important issues that all teenagers have to deal with.
Current season and renewal potential
The series has a 6.8/10 IMDb score and seems to be a laid-back, entertaining and unassuming series that is enjoyed by the viewers. Backstage features an entirely Canadian cast of singers and dancers, with the episodes directed by acclaimed music video directors for an authentic feel. Disney Channel also plans to distribute the series in Europe, Africa, the Middle East, Australia and New Zealand, which might constitute indirect evidence of the network`s hopeful plans for the future of Backstage.
