Storyline and cast
Camping is a new British sitcom television series that premiered on Sky Atlantic on April 12, 2016. It is created, written, directed and starring Julie Davis, executive produced by Lucy Lumsden, Ben Boyer, Jolia Davis, Lindsay Hughes and Henry Normal and produced by Baby Cow Productions. The freshman series is set to contain the traditional six episodes.
A group of couples goes on a birthday camping trip to Dorset and is derailed into a bout of debauchery and general madness, as they meet the pathetic campsite owner, his elderly mother and other strange characters of various degrees of unpleasantness. The issues of aging people, aging friendships and aging relationships are explored throughout the series. There are waves of bitterness, jealousy, sexual innuendo, drug use, grief, and a full range of human emotions going as the holiday rapidly degenerates. Steve Pemberton, Shaun Aylward, Oaklee Pendergast, Elizabeth Berrington, Jonathan Cake, Julia Davis and Rufus Jones lead the cast.
Ratings and renewal prospects
Camping has been launched to an audience of 71.000 and an 18-49 demo rating of 0.4. IMDb users grant the series 7.9/10, with the viewers` opinions split on the quality of the show. Some find the taboo-breaking dark humor series a hilarious comedy treat and some consider it shallow to the point of being embarrassing and generally dreadful.
