Production info and format
Nazi Megastructures (also known as Nazi Mega Weapons in its US incarnation on PBS) is a documentary series airing on National Geographic UK since 2013. The series is hosted by Richard Lintern, executive produced by Tom Adams and produced by Darlow Smithson Productions. The current third series contains six 45-minute episodes and has premiered on May 4, 2016.
The series examines the huge-scale military technology and infrastructure built by the Nazis in their quest for world domination. The concealed remains of these ambitious structures are revealed, and their backgrounds explored in detail along with the consequences on the technological warfare revolution that followed. To this day what we are seeing in military technology development stems from the impulse given by World War II engineering projects.
Reviews, ratings and renewal possibilities
Nazi Megastructures has an impressive 7.9/10 IMDb score, but the reviews of the series have been mixed, with viewers not particularly taken by the repetitive reminders of pieces of general historical knowledge, below-par CGI, badly acted reenactments and a few other detrimental details. On the bright side, there are accounts of ingenuous large-scale inventions, as promised by the title, they just don`t take as much of the time in each episode as many viewers would like it to. The show has been on for several series, and might very well be renewed further, so stay tuned for the most recent developments.
