Series info and concept
Junkyard Empire is an American automotive-related reality TV series airing on Velocity since 2015. The current second season premiered on May 4, 2016. The show is produced by Half Yard Productions and executive produced by Abby Greenfelder, Sean Gallagher and Greg Smith. The show features Andy`s Auto Parts, a busy automotive junkyard in Bladensburg, Maryland.
Andy and Bobby Cohen are a father-and-son team that owns and manages a custom car shop and a car junkyard. Bobby started the junkyard many years ago and his ideas on running it differ, sometimes significantly, from Andy`s. Bobby`s an easy-going guy, and Andy`s motivated, hardcore approach leads to inevitable conflicts. The junkyard team searches for all types of vehicles and their remains in all kinds of imaginable places – from police impound lots to dealerships. The beat-up piles of metal can be a great asset, as they may contain valuable parts, metal scrap or even a provide foundation for possible high-end builds.
Ratings and renewal prospects
The first season of the show was Velocity`s second highest-rated program among men 18-49, behind the hit Bitchin` Rides series. This season Junkyard Empire is averaging 250,000 viewers per episode and a 0.1 rating in the adult 18-49 demographic. It seems to be a likely candidate for renewal, as its ratings are strong enough for Velocity, and it offers a new twist on the popular automotive subject matter. Stay tuned, and we`ll keep you informed as soon as a decision is made regarding the future of Junkyard Empire.
