Series information and plot
Bizaardvark is a brand new teenage comedy television series created by Kyle Stegina and Josh Lehrman. The freshman season of the show premiered on June 24, 2016 on Disney Channel and Disney Channel Canada. The series hails from It`s a Laugh Productions and is executive produced by Marc Warren and Eric Friedman.
BFFs Paige Olvera (Olivia Rodrigo) and Frankie Wong (Madison Hu) write and perform funny songs and have their own YouTube channel, Bizaardvark. As the two 13-year-olds gain online popularity and their channel hits 10,000 subscribers, they are approached by Vuuugle Studios and are offered a chance to make their videos at Vuuulge creative studio space. The girls` quest to become online superstars is full of hilarious adventures that are featured in the series.
Viewership and questionable reviews
The series premiere viewership looked very promising, with an audience of 2.41 million viewers, but the second episode numbers dropped by over 50% to 1.19 million viewers. IMDb viewers give it an unimpressively average 5.6/10 score. The show picks up the music-related content trend, following the successful run of Hannah Montana, Shake It Up and Austin and Ally. Whether or not Bizaardvark will follow in the footsteps of its super-successful predecessors is not very clear, but the future does not look too optimistic at the moment. Much disapproval is particularly expressed in regard to the fact that Bizaardvark is an obvious iCarly ripoff. Stay tuned for relevant announcements.
