Series background and info
Survivor is an American competitive reality television series produced by Jeff Probst, Mark Burnett and Charlie Parsons. Since the day it first aired in the year 2000, it has ranked as one of the most watched shows in the US and is currently considered the highest-rated and most profitable reality series on television. Season 32 of the show premiered on CBS on February 17, 2016. It is simulcast in Canada on Global and airs the following day after the US broadcast in Australia on Go!
In this reality series a group of strangers is isolated in a deserted location, where they must struggle to provide food, water, fire, shelter and any medical assistance necessary. At the same time, they compete in challenges to either earn immunity from expulsion from the game, or a reward. The last couple of survivors left must face a jury of the contestants that have been previously eliminated. The Sole Survivor wins a prize of a million dollars.
Current season ratings and likely renewal
Season 32 is set in Koh Rong, Cambodias second-largest island, and follows the adventures of 18 contestants divided into 3 tribes according to their strongest character trait – Brains, Brawn and Beauty. The viewership ratings are still extremely strong, with the series premiering to 8.3 million viewers, a 1.9 rating and a 7% share and gaining just short of another million for the third episode, where the rating grew to 2.2 and the share to 8%. With numbers like these there is no end to survival adventures in sight, so please stay tuned for relevant renewal information.
