Show info and format
Smoked is an all-new Destination America competition reality series with a very appropriate summer theme – barbecue and everything related. The show is produced by Citizen Pictures with Frank Matson, Tim McOsker, Grant McGahuey and Fay Yu serving as executive producers. Its freshman season debuted on June 1, 2016.
Hosted by experienced BBQ master Myron Mixon, the show features two pitmasters per episode in a face-to-face BBQ battle. There are three rounds in each competition, The Long Cook, with 8 hours to cook a cut of meat to perfection, the Kingsford One Bite Challenge, with half an hour to whip up a grilled bite to eat, and the Big Grill-Off, where an entire meal has to be created right on the spotl.
Current season and possible renewal
Most of the contenders have a personal history between them, having previously competed against each other before on the BBQ circuit. The winner of each episode gets a $5,000 prize, and the loser has to do something different in each episode – shave their head and beard, get a tattoo of the other team`s logo or make a social media video clip praising and promoting the winner`s school of BBQ. The current season is comprised of 9 episodes, and might very well prove entertaining enough in a certain niche, besides, it`s full of tips for your own barbecue cookouts to surprise your friends and family with. No announcements regarding the show`s fate, as it is too early in the season, so we`ll keep monitoring the ratings and keeping you informed of any relevant news.
