The Player is an American drama TV series starring Philip Winchester, created by John Rogers and John Fox, and produced by Sony Pictures Television, Davis Entertainment and Kung Fu Monkey. Formerly known as Endgame, the series premiered on NBC on September 24, 2015.

This series follows the life of a former military operative Alex Kane (Winchester) who now works as a security expert in Las Vegas. Alex gets himself into a mess when his ex-wife is murdered and he becomes the number one suspect. When he is able to escape the hospital that he is being held at, he is picked up by a woman who introduces him to her boss, Mr. Johnson (Wesley Snipes). The two tell him that they work for a secret intelligence organization and run a betting game amongst wealthy individuals who gamble on the outcome of crimes in Las Vegas. Alex is offered a job as “The Player”, whose main responsibility is to stop these crimes from happening. He first denies the job, but then decides that taking it is the best way to get revenge for the death of his wife. Will he succeed, or will the house win, as it always does?

NBC has originally ordered thirteen episodes for the series, but due to low ratings that number was reduced to nine for the first season. At this time, there are still a few episodes left and unless the producers are able to make the drama more interesting and realistic, this season may be the one and only for The Player.
