Series` concept and info
A brand new “polyromantic comedy” airing on DirecTV`s Audience Network since March 22, 2016, You Me Her was created and written by John Scott Shepherd, who is also the executive producer and showrunner. Alan Gasmer, Peter Jaysen, Armand Leo, John Morayniss and Bart Peters also executive produce the show. The series received a straight-to-series order last year and contains 10 half-hour episodes.
When a suburban upper-middle class married couple Jack and Emma (Greg Poehler and Rachel Blanchard) decides to open up their relationship, the results are funny and unexpected. Both of them end up hiring the same female escort, Izzy (Priscilla Faia) to fulfill their sexual fantasies, and the romantic involvements whirls the three of them in an unlikely love affair.
Reviews and renewal prospects
You Me Her, which provides an interesting twist on the independent rom-com genre received positive reviews for a number of its aspects. First of all, it is an important step towards portraying alternative, non-monogamous relationships in an ethical manner. The nuanced storytelling, realistic characters and genuine chemistry between the cast members are also noted by the reviewers. The odds of You Me Her series succeeding on the rather obscure DirecTV Audience Network, the existence of which is not a well-known fact, however, are rather low, as is duly noted by some of the reviewers. That certainly is a shame, because this thought-provoking and original angle at yet another one of love`s shapes and forms deserves better. Let`s stay tuned and root for the series to gain a loyal audience.
