Series concept and production info

Would I Lie to You? is a long-running British comedy panel series that`s been broadcast on BBC One since June 16, 2007. The ninth series` final episode aired on January 13, 2016. The show is presented by Rob Brydon, produced by Zeppotron and executive produced by Peter Holmes, Ruth Philips and Gilly Hall.

Two teams led by the captains, comedians David Mitchell and Lee Mack, reveal strange and sometimes awkward personal memories to each other. The goal of the game is to attempt to convince the opposing team of your story`s truthfulness, while not all of the stories told are indeed true. Besides the captain, two celebrity guests contend on each team. There are several rounds to the game – “Home truths”, “This is my...” and “Quick-fire lies”.

Ratings, awards and renewal prospects

Would I Lie to You? has certainly had a successful prolonged run so far, with excellent viewer support and steady ratings throughout all of the seasons so far. The audience share of the show has peaked a number of times at an impressive 19%. The selection of guests is praised, team captains and the host are very entertaining, and the far-fetched statements are fun to consider. The series was nominated for a BAFTA and has won a British Comedy Award for Best Panel Show three times in a row. All of this certainly leads us to believe that soon enough we are going to hear that Would I Lie to You? scored yet another renewal from BBC One.
