Season 5 recap

A 10-season fifth season of the popular American comedy series House of Lies has wrapped up on Showtime on June 12, 2016. The series finale concluded a 58-episode that spanned 4 years and featured the antics of a group of immoral, albeit rather successful management consultants. The ending episode portrayed a major transformation that Marty Kaan underwent, actually seeming to become more of a human being than ever before. He declines a lucrative deal, which, if signed, would effectively subject Cuban economy to imperialist rule, and he, for a change, wants nothing to do with a transaction that would be financially viable, yet violate his principles (yes, it turns out that he has principles!). In another unexpected move, he proposes to Jeannie and she accepts. Although everything, including the instant marriage, occurs under the influence of multiple mojitos, neither one regrets their decision in the morning, although it takes both of them some time to reconstruct the previous evening. Thus a happy ending, and they sail off into the sunset. Farewell, House of Lies, since, as we have already reported, Showtime has canceled the show due to viewership issues. The fifth season has experienced a significant decline in ratings compared to the previous installment, where some of the episodes have peaked at over a million viewers. The last completed season premiered to 399,000 viewers, and bowed out with merely 307,000.

UPDATED May 18, 2016: The ruthless management consultants of House of Lies are wrapping up their business, since, as Showtime has announced, the series` fifth season will be its last. On Sunday, June 12 at 9pm the series finale will be aired, and the show will bow out for good. The series` finale shooting location was Cuba, the first American scripted show to be filmed there since the diplomatic relations were restored between the two countries . Low ratings are the most likely reason for the cancelation, as the current fifth season has lost almost 30% of its audience when compared to the previous chapter.
