NBC officially canceled Crowded season 2

This article has the most up-to-date info on the status of Crowded season 2 as we continuously monitor the news to keep you in the know. Unfortunately, NBC has officially canceled the series. There will be no season 2.

Storyline and info

A brand new US sitcom, Crowded has begun its broadcast on NBC on March 15, 2016, making an entrance mid-season. The show is created by Suzanne Martin, executive produced by Martin, James Burrowsm Sean Hayes and Todd Milliner and hails from Hazy Mills Productions, SamJen Productions and Universal Television.

The storyline focuses on Mike (Patrick Warburton) and Martina (Carrie Preston) Moore, as well as their (numerous) immediate relatives. The couple that is at the outset in an “empty nest” situation, suddenly finds that their two daughters Stella (Mia Serafino) and Shea (Miranda Cosgrove) have quit their college studies and are moving back in with them. Mike`s parents, too, decide not to move to Florida for retirement, as previously planned, and remain in town.

Viewership and renewal potential

The series premiered to 6.52 million viewers, a 1.7 rating and a share of 6 in the 18-49 demographic, dropping to 3.52 million viewers for the most recent fourth episode. The show received mixed to average ratings, with critics noting the talented acting, but complaining about the lack of room for development in the series, and a lack of humor. Crowded has a decent 6.3/10 IMDb score, and a questionable 32% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Whether or not NBC decides to go forward with a second season of this retro sitcom is not quite clear at this point, and we will monitor the news closely to bring you timely updates on the future of Crowded on NBC.

Latest news

UPDATED May 15, 2016: NBC`s midseason comedy series Crowded has fallen victim to a wave of cancelations that has affected many of the major networks` programs just ahead of the upfront presentations week. The series has been axed following just one season, most likely for the most banal reason – low ratings. Most recently Crowded has scored a mere 0.7 rating in the 18-49 demographic. It`s very unfortunate that her commitment to Crowded prevented Carrie Preston from reprising her brilliant performance in the last season of The Good Wife.
