This article has the most up-to-date info on the status of The Interceptor Series 2 as we continuously monitor the news to keep you in the know. Unfortunately, BBC One has officially canceled the series. There will be no Series 2.
Basic info and cast
Written by Tony Saint and produced by BBC Drama Production, The Interceptor is a British drama TV series that is based on a book of the same name and focuses on the work of a law enforcement team in London. Season 1 of the series premiered on June 10, 2015 on BBC One and consists of eight 60-minute episodes.
Special Agent Marcus Ashton works for Her Majesty’s Revenue and Customs department in London. When he is recruited by the Undercover Narcotics Investigation Team his work becomes a lot more dangerous than it was before, as he now must concentrate on catching high-profile drug dealers. Ash is definitely far from being your down-the-line customs guy you meet at the airport security.
Current season, ratings and renewal chances
This series has received largely negative reviews from the critics and audience. Being an action thriller, it has surprisingly cheap stunts, bad acting and a mediocre script. Considering that some critics say that it is “shockingly bad” and joke that the show was created to make the rest of BBC One series look better, we don’t believe that there will be a continuation and that we will see The Interceptor Season 2 in the near future.
UPDATED April 30, 2016: BBC One`s criminal drama The Interceptor has been canceled by the network after just one series in view of the generally negative reviews. The ratings drop to two million viewers per episode is an unacceptable low for the network, and has been panned universally by the critics for cliched plot twists, drab dialogue, unconvincing characters and many other aspects. Unfortunately for the fans, the creators of The Interceptor will not get a second chance to improve on these faults, and the series bows out for good.
