BBC One officially canceled The Night Manager series 2
This article has the most up-to-date info on the status of The Night Manager Series 2 as we continuously monitor the news to keep you in the know. Unfortunately, BBC One has officially canceled the series. There will be no Series 2.

Production information and storyline
A spy thriller with a stellar cast, The Night Manager, has premiered on February 21, 2016 on BBC One. The series is based on an eponymous John LeCarre novel and adapted to present day in a screenplay by David Farr. The six-episode series is produced by The Ink Factory, BBC and AMC. The US release is scheduled for April 19, 2016 on AMC.
An ex-British soldier, who is a night manager at a luxury hotel in Cairo, Jonathan Pine (Tom Hiddleston) is drawn into an intricate intelligence plot and recruited by British intelligence operative Angela Burr (Olivia Colman). His task is to infiltrate the inner circle of the vicious arms dealer Richard Roper (Hugh Laurie), his lover Jed (Elizabeth Debicki) and his associate Corkoran (Tom Hollander).
Stellar ratings, excellent reception and rumors of renewal
The series debuted to an impressive 8.25 million viewers, with the two following episodes scoring audiences of 8.42 and 8.11 million respectively. IMDb gives the series a score of 8.7/10, and Rotten Tomatoes – a sensational 100% fresh rating. The critical reception is also very welcoming, with lavish praise for compelling performances, and the creators` capabilities which were finally able to justice to LeCarre`s classic. In fact, the two previous attempts to make this particular novel into a movie have failed due to the film format which just wasn`t long enough for the plot to fit into without extensive simplification. It`s difficult to imagine that there will be a straightforward continuation of the series, since it is an adaptation of a specific novel, but there are numerous way of dealing with that. However, there are strong rumors of the negotiations between BBC and The Ink Factory, the production company behind the hit series (which is, coincidentally, run by John LeCarre`s sons). The talks regarding a six-episode second series are said to be in an advanced stage, so let`s keep our fingers crossed. Meanwhile, let`s just enjoy the remaining episodes of The Night Manager and monitor the news – hopefully, for a second series` renewal confirmation.
Series 1 finale recap
A six-part debut chapter of the new American-British action and crime drama The Night Manager concluded in the UK on March 27th, and the executives at BBC One couldn’t be happier with the show’s performance. While the final episode attracted almost 6.7 million viewers, the average viewership of the first chapter was 6.3 million. These impressive numbers are on par with the debut performances of such hit British series as Happy Valley and Broadchurch. Surely, the expectations for the American screening of the thriller drama are very high now as the show is slated to premiere on the AMC network on April 19, 2016. Tom Hiddleston brilliant performance has fans and critics hoping he’ll be the next James Bond, and while there has been no word yet about the fate of a second series, the verdict is unanimous – the show must go on.
Latest news
UPDATED April 16, 2016: Despite the rumors of a second series, one of the biggest successes of 2016, The Night Manager, will remain a completed miniseries consisting of six episodes, and will not be continued further. Series` stars Tom Hiddleston and Hugh Laurie have confirmed the end of the road for the drama, which is based on a John LeCarre`s novel. The story is complete, and since there`s no other novel that follows up on the events adapted into The Night Manager series, there`ll be no show. On one hand, it`s nice to see that the creative team made such a dignified decision, even though the stellar ratings would easily carry the series over into a successful second installment. On the other hand, we`re disappointed that there won`t be a continuation of such brilliant work.
