About the series
Austin & Ally is a teen sitcom about the relationship between two musicians — an extroverted singer and an introverted songwriter. The series was created by Kevin Kopelow and Heath Seifert, the writers and producers behind hit Nickelodeon series like All That, and Disney’s Sonny with a Chance, and Jonas. Season one of Austin & Ally debuted on December 2, 2011 with an initial 13 episode run, which was later extended to 19 episodes. The show’s current season 4 premiered on January 18, 2015 on the Disney Channel.
Starring Ross Lynch as outgoing singer and instrumentalist Austin Moon, and Laura Marano as awkward and introverted songwriter Ally Dawson, the show explores the relationship between the teens as they work together to keep their own careers on track. Throughout the seasons, the characters grow and mature into bonafide musical stars and fans can’t seem to get enough of their shenanigans.
Reviews and ratings
Winner of numerous awards, including the Kids’ Choice Award in 2013 and 2014, and the Teen Choice Award in 2014, Austin & Ally has been described as a pint-sized version of HBO’s popular series Entourage. With dozens of original hit songs and several chart-topping albums, the series has been extremely popular with fans and critics alike. While there has been no official announcements regarding a possible renewal for Austin & Ally season 5, teen and tween fans are waiting with baited breath for another installment of the show and the return of their favorite duo.
