This article has the most up-to-date info on the status of Bluestone 42 Series 4 as we continuously monitor the news to keep you in the know. Unfortunately, BBC Three has officially canceled the series. There will be no Series 4.

Summary and plot

Written by Richard Hurst and James Caray, Bluestone 42 is a British comedy drama television series that focuses on the work of a bomb disposal detachment in Afghanistan. Filmed in South Africa, this series first aired on BBC Three in March of 2013. Bluestone Season 3 premiered on March 9, 2015 and ended on April 13, 2015.

A story of camaraderie, friendship and relationship between soldiers, this series portrays the work of an Afghanistan based detachment whose job is to defuse explosives. In addition to the typical military work, the series also presents stories of romance between male and female soldiers of the unit, friendships, and the bureaucracy the soldiers have to deal with to get their job done. In series 3, Captain Nick Medhurst is badly injured and loses a leg, a fact that makes Corporal Lynda Bird come out with her feelings towards him. At the same time, Medal attempts to romance the new addition to the team Captain Ellen Best.

Ratings, reviews and possible renewal

Although the series boasts a high score of 7.9 out of 10 on IMDb and 79% on Rotten Tomatoes, its viewership has been steadily falling from the time it first aired. Whether because of this, or because the writers don’t believe there are any more stories to write about, the network has decided not to continue with the show. With that, the current third season will be the last for the show and fans will not be seeing Bluestone 42 series 4.
