This article has the most up-to-date info on the status of Fresh Meat Series 5 as we continuously monitor the news to keep you in the know. Unfortunately, Channel 4 has officially canceled the series. There will be no Series 5.

Series info and storyline

Fresh Meat is a highly acclaimed British comedy drama series airing on Channel 4 since September 21, 2011. Its latest 8-episode fourth series was set to premiere two years after series 3 on January 5, 2016, but for reasons unknown to the public has been pushed back to early February, exact date still to be announced. The show is written by Jesse Armstrong, Sam Bain, Tony Roche, Penelope Skinner, Tom Basden, and other writers, and produced by Lime Productions and Objective Productions.

The sitcom portrays a motley crew of 6 freshman students sharing a house as they begin their studies at a Manchester University. They seem to be mismatched, but this crew`s chemistry makes for perfect comedy. There`s the party girl Violet (Zawe Ashton), socially inept geology student Howard (Greg McHugh), Josie (Kimberley Nixon), who`s shy and sensible at first, but turns into a bad-tempered egotist shortly thereafter, rebel Oregon (Charlotte Ritchie), insecure Kingsley (Joe Thomas) and arrogant J.P. (Jack Whitehall).

Critical reception and cancelation

The critics grew more positive about the series as it progressed, although the initial response was mixed. Fresh Meat has won many awards, among which there are the Royal Television Society Awards, a British Comedy Award and The British Comedy Guide UK Award, and has been nominated for a number of others. It has already been announced that series four will be the last one for the show, but its creators Sam Bain and Jesse Armstrong are discussing a possibility of a Fresh Meat film, so the fans might not have to say a conclusive good-bye to their favorite characters after all.
