Witnesses is an new French police procedural TV drama series created by Marc Herpoux and Harve Hadmar. Newly released from France, the series titled “Les Témoins” in French, premiered in the U.K. on Channel 4 on July 22, 2015. In North America, season one of Witnesses has been available on Netflix in North America since May 1, 2015.

Set in a small coastal village in France, Witnesses is a dark crime thriller that follows investigators as try to solve the mysterious appearance of bodies, unearthed left for discovery. Detectives Justin (Jan Hammenecker) and Sandra (Marie Dompnier) investigate an unusual series of grave-robbings of recently deceased murder victims. The excavated corpses are set up in model homes, as if they still lived there. In a tragic turn of events, the case requires retired policeman Paul Maisonneuve (Thierry Lhermitte) to return to the force.

Season 1 of Witnesses is a series that can be easily binge watched on Netflix. An international summer hit, european fans are already looking forward to another season of the drama noir series. In an interview posted on the French Embassy’s Culture page, star Marie Dompnier let is slip that Witnesses season 2 is currently being penned and promises to be even more exciting. No formal announcements have been issued by Netflix or Channel 4 regarding a scheduled premiere date.
