The release date for Chicago P.D. Season 4 — September 21, 2016

This article has the most up-to-date info on the status of Chicago P.D. Season 4 as we continuously monitor the news to keep you in the know. NBC has scheduled the premiere date for a new season for September 21, 2016.

Basic info and storyline

Chicago P.D. is an American police television drama that follows the lives of uniformed police patrolmen and detectives as they pursue the perpetrators of Chicago’s streets. Created by Dick Wolf and Matt Olmstead in association with Universal Television, this series is a spin-off from another popular series – Chicago Fire, and was originally released in January of 2014. Season 3 premiered on NBC on September 30, 2015.

District 21 of the Chicago Police Department consists of a group of uniformed policemen and the Intelligence Unit, the members of which deal with major crimes like murders, drug trafficking and organized crimes. The Department is being lead by Sergeant Hank Voight, who doesn’t mind bending the rules in order to catch the perpetrators and help his elite team pursuit justice. This creates a riveting police drama about the men and women who keep one of the most dangerous cities in America safe.

Considering the popularity of Chicago Fire and many other police procedural dramas, it is quite possible that this series will continue for years to come. Although there hasn’t been any official news from NBC on the fate of the show, we hope that Chicago P.D. season 4 will be picked up and air sometime next year.

Season 3 recap

On May 25, 2016 the 25-episode third season of Chicago PD has concluded on NBC. The series is amazingly popular, and has significantly increased its viewership averages from season one to seasons two and three. The third season bowed out with an 8.7 million total viewers and a 2.1 rating in the 18-49 demographic, with practically the same numbers as the previous season. The season finale centered on an investigation of a murder of a single mom who was in touch with Voight`s son, who, in turn, suffered a brutal assault himself. It`s decision time for Roman, and the unit is bound for some serious changes, as per Crowley`s plan. We know that the hit series has been renewed for another run, and there are some spoilers for the upcoming season that we`d love to share with you. First of all, Roman is indeed out of the story, as Brian Geraghty chose to leave the show to pursue other projects as a producer. This means that an opportunity might open up for his love interest Burgess to once again wind up together with Ruzek. Stay tuned, and we`ll fill you in on the fourth season release date as soon as it is confirmed.
