Series info and storyline

Foxtel`s gripping new mystery drama The Kettering Incident has premiered on July 4, 2016 in Australia with two back-to-back episodes. The series is created by Victoria Madden and Vincent Sheehan, produced by Porchlight Films and Sweet Potato Films, and executive produced by Penny Win. The first series of The Kettering Incident contains eight one-hour episodes.

The highly anticipated series follows Dr. Anna Macy (Elizabeth Debicki), who has departed from her hometown of Kettering at the age of 14, immediately after her best friend Gillian goes missing under mysterious circumstances. When she returns many years later, another young woman disappears after they go into the woods together. What is the link between her and these disappearances? Unpleasant memories begin to come to the surface, as Anna is close to discovering the truth behind the events that might threaten the whole town.

Ratings, criticism and renewal

The series` two-episode premiere drew 0.115 million viewers to their screens, which made it the top-rated non-sports program on the Foxtel platform. The Kettering Incident boasts an 8/10 score, but not everybody is taken by the show, and Debicki`s performance garnered almost as much criticism as it did praise. The slow pacing and thin characters have all come under fire, but everyone agrees that the scenery is beautiful, although that`s definitely not enough to hold up the ratings for a whole series.
