About the series
Homestead Rescue is a new Discovery reality series that premiered on June 17, 2016. It is produced by Raw Television and executive produced by Mike Griffiths, Sam Maynard, Dimitri Doganis and Matt Vafiadis.
Over the period of the last decade approximately two million Americans have attempted to radically change their lifestyle and begin relying on themselves. Marty Raney is a veteran Alaskan adventurer and homesteader used to living off the land under the harshest conditions. He along with his daughter Misty, a farmer and son Matt, a fisherman and hunter set out to assist new homesteaders who are struggling to adjust to their new lifestyle. Each week the Raneys visit a different family who require advice on how to sustain themselves independently.
Viewership and renewal prospects
Homestead Rescue is an excellent ratings performer, actually growing week to week. The recent episodes scored 1.8, and subsequently 1.95 million viewers with a 0.4 rating in the 18-49 demographic. The main reason for the show`s success may very well be its down-to-earth, truly realistic quality. Raney himself stresses the fact that this show is completely unscripted and the work that they do in the week to ten days of interaction with each family and teaching them the essential skills needed to survive in Alaskan wilderness are all authentic. With ratings like these a renewal decision should be a no-brainer, so please stay tuned, and we`ll be sure to inform you of the program`s fate as soon as a decision is made by the network.
