Production info and plot

The Deep is an Australian/Canadian CGI action and adventure animated series that is based on the popular, multiple award-winning and best-selling graphic novels by Tom Taylor and James Brouwer. It is produced by Nerd Corps Entertainment, DHX Media and A Stark Production. Since its release on December 1, 2015, The Deep has already debuted on CBBC in the UK, Super RTL, Family in Canada and The Seven Network in Australia, and after Netflix has acquired the US broadcasting rights, The Deep has finally premiered n the United States on June 1, 2016.

The series chronicles the life and adventures of the Nekton family, who live in The Aronnax, a high-tech submarine, and explore the underwater world to reveal the mysteries of the deep. They are a brilliant team and a tightly knit family, and all of them know that you don`t need to look too far for an amazing adventure, and that the darkness below contains many exciting secrets. There is danger amid the waters as well – pirates, black market trade, leviathans and the greatest mystery of all – the Guardians hiding their secrets.

Popularity and chances of renewal

The series has become very popular, not just with children, but with whole families, which is not surprising as viewers and critics note the positive depiction of family relationships in The Deep. The action and pacing are also hailed consistently, and it does seem like a very well-rounded family-oriented adventure. There is no news on a second season of the show yet, but with positive reviews like The Deep is getting, it seems almost a certainty.
