About the series
Ladylike is a hidden camera prank television series that has just premiered in the United States on June 9, 2016 on the MTV network. The program is executive produced by Ryan Ling and Jessica Vitkus and hails from Bird Brain Productions. It features Girl Code alum Nicole Byer along with Megan Gailey (Indianapolis), Blair Socci, Shannon Coffrey (NYC), Anna-Lee Wright (NYC), Matteo Lane (NYC) and Brazilian-born Jade Catta-Preta.
The series sets as its goal challenging societal gender norms and disrupting sexism – right on the street. The unsuspecting public gets drawn into situations that poke holes in the typical gender narrative – because all the holes that have been poked through it before apparently aren`t enough. With an attitude typical of Girl Code, the cast attempts to redefine – or at least thoroughly question – the idea of “ladylike” in a very hands-on manner.
Viewership and renewal potential
An irreverent attitude and lots of fun – the comediennes get to try out catcalling on the street, manage multiple dates, kiss random passers-by, stage “Save Our Sperm” pseudo-protests similar to anti-abortionist ones, arguing that life begins with sperm and there`s no place for male masturbation, and engage in a range of other entertaining activities. Ladylike premiered to 395,000 viewers with a 0.2 rating, and staying above 300,000 so far. The viewership numbers are not particularly impressive, but are not low enough to predict a cancelation. We will therefore monitor the ratings and announcements closely and will inform you of the series` fate.
