Secret City is an Australian political drama television mini-series airing on Showcase. The show is based on The Marmalade Files and The Mandarin Code, two novels by Chris Uhlmann and Steve Lewis, and is written by Matt Cameron, Belinda Chayko and Greg Waters. The 6-part series premiered on June 5, 2016. Secret City is executive produced by Penny Win and Penny Chapman, and produced by Matchbox Pictures.
As tension is growing between China and the United States, Canberra journalist Harriet Dunley (Anna Torv) discovers a secret city where a number of conspiracies intertwine, posing a serious danger to both her personal safety and career, and the freedom of every Australian citizen. The political thriller is very intense, and features Jacki Weaver as Senator Catriona Bailey, Labor Party power broker. Among the cast are also Daniel Wylie, Damon Herriman, Alex Dmitriades, Alan Dale, Mekhi Phifer, and other talented actors.
Viewership, reviews and renewal potential
