About the series
A hit American reality series, American Pickers has been broadcast since 2010. It`s produced by A&E Television Networks, (AP2/AP3/AP4/AP5) Inc. and Cineflix with Charles Tremayne, Mark Poetner and Mike Wolfe serving as executive producers. Wolfe is the creator of the show, and Poetner and Stephen Pettinger are responsible for its development. The current 15th season of the show debuted on History on May 4, 2016.
The show features Mike Wolfe and Frank Fritz, American antique collectors and resellers. The two travel extensively across the US looking for and acquiring various items of value. Danielle Colby coordinates their trips and runs Wolfe`s business out of the two offices – in LeClaire Iowa and Nashville, Tennessee. Some of their purchases happen when they follow the leads obtained by Colby, and some are found when they intuitively stop at random places that might look promising insofar as hidden treasures.
Popularity and renewal prospects
American Pickers` original series premiere audience of 3.1 million viewers made the highest-rated History debut since Ice Road Truckers in 2007. The current 15th season opened to 2.1 million viewers and a 0.37 demo rating, edging up to 2.2 million and a 0.4 rating for the sophomore chapter, and staying just as strong throughout its run so far. The reviewers praise the affable personalities of the series` hosts and the adrenaline rush of discovery and rewards that is a big part of the action. The show has had a long and successful run, and it is still very popular and apparently has a steady fan base, so the chances of its renewal are very high.
