Concept and production information
A part of what is started off as a Dutch reality television show, and what is now an international franchise with adaptations in Argentina, the UK and Canada, Hello Goodbye has recently premiered in the USA on the Travel Channel. It is produced by Ellen DeGeneris` A Very Good Production in collaboration with Telepictures and Shed Media. The freshman season is comprised of six 30-minute episodes with Curt Menefee hosting.
Perhaps inspired by the airport scenes from British drama Love Actually – or perhaps not – Hello Goodbye is an emotional and persuasive exploration of things so real, common and relatable that there`s no need for the usual reality manipulative tricks. The show documents arrivals and departures at four major US airports. It documents painful separations, joyful reunions, it documents life stories in progress, relationships in various stages of development, surprises, marriage proposals, tears, as experienced by travelers from all social and cultural backgrounds.
Current season and renewal potential
Heartwarming and hilarious, sad and hopeful, the stories of people encountered in airports provide a random, but still somehow comprehensive cross-section of life at its most interesting and unexpected. Travel Channel has not yet made any announcements regarding either a renewal or a cancelation of the new series, but we think that the concept of Hello Goodbye deserves a chance to develop further. Please stay tuned, and we`ll be sure to inform you of the series` future.
