About the show
The Dude Perfect Show is a new television show that airs on CMT, having premiered on April 14, 2016 alongside The Ed Bassmaster Show. It has originated on Youtube channel that became famous for its basketball stunts and comedy performances and has an incredible 8.9 million subscribers and over 1.4 billion views prior to the TV series premiere. The show is produced by Superjacket Productions and executive produced by Rob Dyrdek.
The program follows 5 friends from Texas – Cody Jones, Tyler Toney, Garrett Hilbert, Coby and Cory Cotton – who perform a wide range of astonishing tricks, crazy stunts and challenges, and their panda mascot. Cameos by celebrities and famous athletes Chris Paul and Aaron Rodgers, musician Luke Bryan, Green Bay Packers, and many more are also a part of the show. Besides, the behind-the-scenes lives of the friends are also highlighted, so that the audiences can get a glimpse into the camaraderie behind the viral videos and now the television show as well.
Current season and renewal prospects
In his interview Toney has mentioned that the jump from Youtube to the next level meant a serious format change, with more storytelling and background than the short Youtube clips require. The show is certainly popular with its loyal fans from Youtube, but remains to be seen whether or not it will manage to attract a large enough straightforward TV audience that does not have a previous history with the antics of its creators. The Dude Perfect Show premiered to 407,000 viewers, scoring a 0.2 rating in the coveted 18-49 demographic, slipping to 191,000 viewers by the third episode, which means that the program lost half of its audience.
